What if your next job offer included a token budget alongside your salary?
That question felt outlandish until last week, when Jensen Huang walked onstage at GTC 2025 and made a case that AI tokens will become “the single most valuable commodity in the world.”
Here’s what caught my attention:
OpenClaw & NemoClaw
NVIDIA released open-source robotic foundation models that let any developer build dexterous robot hands. By open-sourcing the weights, they’re signalling that physical AI is about to follow the same democratisation curve we saw with LLMs. Expect pilot programs in warehousing, logistics, and eventually financial document handling within 18 months.
Sovereign AI Is Now National Policy
Huang announced partnerships with sovereign AI clouds across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Europe. Governments aren’t just buying chips; they’re building their own inference infrastructure so sensitive data never leaves their borders. For financial services firms operating cross-border, this reshapes where and how models can be deployed, and who owns the compliance burden.
Agentic AI at the Enterprise Core
The new Blackwell Ultra and Vera Rubin roadmap isn’t about faster chatbots. It’s about systems that plan, execute, and self-correct across multi-step workflows. In financial services, that means AI agents that can run end-to-end mortgage affordability checks, flag regulatory exceptions, and draft client communications, all before a human reviews the output.
Why This Matters for Financial Services
Most firms are still in the “chatbot bolted onto the intranet” phase. GTC 2025 made it clear the frontier is moving to agentic, physically-capable, sovereign-grade AI. The gap between early movers and the rest is about to widen dramatically.
Three things I’d be doing this week if I led a financial services firm:
- Audit your token economics. Understand what you’re spending on inference today and model how agentic workloads will scale that 10-50x.
- Map your sovereign exposure. If you operate in the EU, Gulf, or APAC, find out which sovereign AI clouds are coming online and what that means for your data residency obligations.
- Prototype one agentic workflow. Pick a high-volume, rules-heavy process (claims, onboarding, compliance checks) and build a proof of concept that goes beyond a simple prompt-response loop.
The companies that treat AI as a line item will be disrupted by the ones that treat it as infrastructure.
